Actually a Productive Weekend

What a nice weekend. I got some things accomplished, had a good time, and still managed to relax.

Got some of my E&M homework done yesterday. Not all of it, but I got the ball rolling. Better than usual. After homework, Victoria and I went up to Phipps Plaza to go see "Red Eye." Much much better than I had expected. The end kind of leaves something to be desired, but all in all, I really liked it. I would go again to see it.

Today Mom came to visit. She actually made it to Atlanta without having a heart attack, go her! We hung out at my apartment for a while, then I took her to lunch at Chipotle. Ladies and gents, we have a new convert to Chipotle! :) I swear their food is absolutely addicting. Then I took her by the Varsity so she could pick up some chili dogs for Jan, then we came back to my apartment. And the interior designer took over. She helped me reorganise the living room so we have a little more space for when I come home on crutches in a few weeks. It looks better now. Afterwards, I took her to IKEA for the first time, and she fell in love with the store, as I knew she would. She promises she is going to come back to visit me more often, now that she knows how to get here. I hope that is true. But it was a great day and a very nice visit.

For the rest of my evening, I just chilled and watched the History Channel. They were running some show about NASA from the Apollo 11 moon landing until the most recent landing of Discovery. I enjoyed it. And it just makes me want to work with them that much more.

As for my ankle, I have my MRI scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I'm a little nervous, and I really don't want to go. And I've just realised how big of a pain living in this two-story apartment is going to be with crutches. After a little experimentation, I've found that I can hobble downstairs without too much a problem, but going up is going to be hard. I'm thinking crawling up on my butt is going to be involved. Suggestions?

I'm also thinking about postponing my senior research until next semester. I'm going to end up missing a lot of classes for this surgery and various doctor's appointments (not to mention the trip to Ohio) that being able to do any relevant research is going to be very difficult. Though I wouldn't mind learning how to program in FORTRAN which might get the ball rolling for research next semester. We'll see. Going to talk to my advisor tomorrow about all this.

60 days until Cleveland! :) Cheers!
