Vegas Baby!!

So I've been meaning to update about my trip to Vegas ever since we got back, but time keeps slipping away from me. But I figured I should do it now, on the eve of yet another intern trip.

We left work early last Friday and drove out to Las Vegas. After Leigh and I registered for our room at the Luxor, we ushered our group upstairs. From there we crashed a bit until the rest of our party arrived about 45 minutes later. Then we went down to find cheap food (difficult to do in Vegas) before going out that night. 18 out of 20 people went to the nightclub Rain at the Palms, and Leigh and Natalie (a friend of hers from Ohio) wandered the strip and bar-hopped. Rain was a blast! The cover sucked at $25, but the girls ended up getting VIP status for free. :) Drinks also sucked at around $11 a pop. Yeah, I think I dropped around $70 that night. Craziness. But we all drank and got trashed, had much fun dancing, then took taxis back to the hotel around 3am. I checked my voicemail and had a drunk-dialed phone call from Leigh, which was hilarious. Something about Rain blowing goats, walking the strip, meeting boys, drinking 100-ounce margaritas, and telling me that they loved me. Lol. I was going to go to bed, but I started talking to Jason, and we ended up staying up until the girls got back around 3:45. That was so funny. I don't think I've ever seen Leigh that trashed. They promptly told me that they were going to go downstairs and gamble but were going to get the boys from next door first (the other half of our party). And this is after Leigh flings her shoes at the wall, then shows off her blinking flip flops. I tag along next door, and we stuck around talking for a bit, then Natalie passed out on a bed, so going out was shot. Leigh laid down next to Dave in the other bed, and I sat next to her, then eventually laid down as well. (Queen size beds easily sleep three people). None of us actually passed out until around 5:30, because Leigh just talked for almost two hours. Don't ask me what she talked about. I really don't remember. Yeah, I was still pretty drunk, but much more sober than she was.

We woke up on Saturday around 9am, but didn't actually get out of bed until 10. Once we did, we found our way back to our room, then ended up back in bed. Awake, but just laying there. Around this time, Natalie realised that she didn't have her purse and that it was no where to be found, in either room. We went down to breakfast and tried not to worry about it. Upon returning to the room, she started called the various cab companies in Vegas, thinking that she left it in a cab earlier that morning. Unfortunately, she never located it. We talked to security at the Luxor as well, but there was nothing they really could do. So she lost her ID, her social security card, her brand-new Nikon camera, her credit card, and Leigh's phone. Craziness. But I think that was the worst thing to happen over the weekend.

As Natalie called the cabs, we all took showers and got ready to head down to the pool. We were down there for almost two hours, splashing around in the water and trying not to get sunburnt. We came back to the hotel and changed again, then went out to supper at the ESPN Zone at New York, New York. That was nice because we all signed up for MVP status which was free, and we got $20 vouchers that could be used on food. Free meal! Heck yeah! After supper, Leigh, Natalie, and I went to go get tickets to go see the Blue Man Group. We were going to go to a club, but since Natalie had no form of ID, that wouldn't have worked. So we hit a show instead, and I spent about as much money on that as I would have at the club. It was a really good show and totally worth the money. We actually got front row centre seats. Very nice. No complaints from me. Then it was off to change again as we headed out to the various casinos in the area. We wanted to gamble, but we all ended up being really tired and not wanting to do that much. So we just wandered through Tropicana, MGM Grand, New York again, and Excalibur. Then we hit McDonald's for a late-night snack, went back to our room and crashed. After we kicked Eaton out of the bed so all three girls could sleep together that is. :) How funny.

Sunday we slept until 9 again, then got up and started packing and taking showers so we could check out by 11. It was here that our group split up for the duration of the trip. Andrew, Leigh, Natalie, and I went over to the Bellagio to watch the fountain show and to eat lunch at Olives. Very nice Italian restaurant. Then we walked over to Caesar's Palace and played craps for around two hours. Leigh and I both dropped $40 at the table and lost it all, though we were both up by about $85 at one point. Should have stopped then. But we had a good time, and neither one of us wanted to gamble much more than that. Then we hit a gift shop at the Bellagio and another one a little further down on the strip. And then we were headed home. It was a pretty uneventful trip back. The three girls slept most of the way back as Andrew drove. After we woke up I got to watch Leigh teach Natalie how to play poker in the back seat with peanuts for betting. :) It was great! When we got back to Leigh's apartment, we went out to Denny's for supper then came back and crashed again. I slept on the floor, which was quite comfy, or else I was just that tired.

Going to work on Monday was tough. We were all exhausted. But in a good way. We still had the high from the weekend I think. That's about all we could talk about for two days. It was definitely memorable, and we are planning to go back around Spring Break time. I hope that works out because it'd be a great time. Hehe...

And this weekend we are heading down to south Arizona for some good Mexican food and shopping, and then driving down to Nogales for a day. Should be fun! :) Cheers!
