Yes, it's that time of year again. The time of year when I get one more year older, maybe one year wiser, but not necessarily. Now I am 22, have been able to legally buy alcohol for a year, and I'm one year closer to being able to rent a car. Woo hoo! ;)
So what am I doing on my birthday you ask? Working. Well, it could be worse. Like the year I worked at Roadhouse on my 20th bday. That sucked. But working at Intel for the bday shouldn't be as bad. Tonight my friends here are taking me out to Kona Grill for happy hour specials (like half off appetizers and sushi) and possibly a drink or two. I'm looking forward to that.
I've received several cards over the past few days, which is always nice. I think I enjoy that more than presents, because it's the recognition of my bday and someone remembered. :) I believe my favourite card has to be my talking hamster one from Leigh and Cassie. There's a running joke around here:
"An engineer was crossing a road one-day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, and that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The engineer said, 'Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool.'"
My card is about a talking hamster, and on the inside Leigh wrote: "No time for a boyfriend, but a talking hamster, now that's cool!" Made my day.
Jarred did something nice for me as well. He spelled out "Happy Birthday Leigh!" in Hershey's kisses, gave me a rose, and the first season of "Charmed" on DVD. It was really sweet. And all my friends are loving the chocolate. Haha... And my dad and stepmom got me "The Phantom of the Opera" DVD as well, which they didn't have to do since they threw me my party on Saturday. All in all, it's turned out to be a great birthday week. :) And to top it off, Leigh and I (Leigh squared haha...) are going to see "TPOTO" in Tempe possibly this weekend or next. I was going to hold off and just see it in Atlanta, but we kind of talked each other into it. So I'll get to see it twice. Not too shabby.
Well, I'm off to passdown. Then a bit of work for the rest of the day. Cheers!
