Phoenix, California, and Intel

I made it safely to Phoenix, Arizona this past Thursday; I hung around the area for about 31 hours, then boarded another plane bound for Ontario, CA (yeah Cali, not Canada) where I spent the weekend. That was ... interesting to say the least. All I'll say is that Denise (my step-mom) has some very dramatic friends. So much worse than everything we ever dealt with at Gordon and GSU combined. So the weekend was a tad frustrating. But I got to see Claremont which is near LA -- not Lower Alabama :) -- and Mt. Baldy. And it was my first trip ever to Cali, so I did have a good time. We travelled out there to see Denise's godson Josh graduate from Harvey Mudd College with a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering. Good for him! Ant to top it off, he just got hired at Intel as a full-time employee, so all four of us will be living in the same house. Fun fun.

After the exciting weekend and a flight delay on the way home Sunday night, I started my new job at Intel this morning as an intern. I still don't know exactly what I'll be doing, as I spent nine hours in NEO (New Employee Orientation) and I get to do four more hours tomorrow then "work" begins. I say "work" because I'm not sure how much I'll be able to actually start on since I don't have my cubical or my Intel laptop yet. It's pretty intimidating, though I'm trying not to let it get to me. I've already met some really nice people, and one girl and I really hit it off today. Turns out we will be working in the same department, and hopefully our cubes will be near each other. There's a few guys up here from GA Tech and one of them is working with me. So we got to talking and he knows where I live and we both know some of the same people. It is a small world. But it does look like I'll easily be making friends.

So tomorrow is back to work at 8am. Another long day ahead. And I keep missing "Charmed." :( I'm really going to have to buy some tapes and start recording it.

Well, I hope all is well out on the east coast. Keep in touch kiddos! Cheers!
