Child labor laws

I'm paying my kids $.05 per weed to pull up the Lamb's Quarters and Goldenrod in my back yard. The Lamb's Quarters are up against the garage and the Goldenrod can be run over by the lawn mower, but it just bends down and springs back up almost as tall as ever. Both plants get taller than my kids. I've decided to leave the Goldenrod "weeds" that are in my flower beds. They're in the back, so they layer well, and they're supposed to be good for beneficial insects (native plant).
