Oh it's been a busy, busy semester. I've been trying to get a study ready for next term for the first stage of my degree, design and conduct a study for a class, teach a persuasion class from scratch, work on my advisor's research, and take three classes. It's left little time for whining so I thought I'd try and get caught up all at once. Next term is looking better. I'm teaching at 4PM instead of 8:30AM and it's the same class so there will be very little new prep. There shouldn't be any additional studies to be run next term for my three classes. And one of the classes I'm taking is persuasion, which I've had a couple times before. So next term, hopefully less busy.
Meanwhile, I am very near the end of my term. I've got half a paper to write, a presentation to give (though that is occurring in a bar so I don't have to worry to much about that), 29ish papers to grade (10ish pages each), and 29 exams to grade (multiple choice and true/ false questions only- I think that essay questions are for people who like doing a lot of grading).
Over break, I need to revise the proposal for the next term study, rewrite my master's thesis and send it to a new journal (two journals have already rejected it so far), and maybe prepare an infidelity study for next term.
So that's the boring stuff. Holiday news:
I will be in Belleville Thursday, December 20, probably in the late evening. I'll be in Belleville (and surrounding environs) staying with my parents until December 27, when I will return to MI. Jill will not be with me as she is going to be with her family and cannot take off work. Hopefully I'll be able to get everyone together somewhere the evening of my birthday. Any suggestions along those lines would be appreciated. Hopefully I'll get to see all of my friends. Hopefully my car will cooperate.
The other day I gave Pressure Cheif, Cake's most recent album another listen. I bought it when it came out and I hadn't listened to it in awhile. I recall the second half being better than the first. Boy is that true. The second half is really good. Any talk about Cake slipping sounds foolish if you listen to that second half starting with Guitar Man. Guitar Man is probably one of their five best songs in my book (my big illustrated book of Cake songs that I like). The first half is... less good. We'll see when they ever get around to doing another album.
I'm all out, I'll meet you at the food court.
