Postin at work

Started my first day at my temporary job here at Birk's dad's accounting office in downtown Frederick.  I know it is only temporary, and I'm putting in job applications at new places everyday, but I can't stress enough just how excited I am to not be at Ritz anymore.

Oooo sweet, I loved working for his dad, it was pretty laid back and he paid me really well too. I learned a bunch of office skills there that I use today at my work, which is good.

Right now retail is looking pretty shitty to you, but just wait until you sit in an office (a real one, not Birk's dad's office) for a few months and realize that nothing will ever be as entertaining as having stupid rednecks ask you questions at Ritz. Seriously, I long for something to break up my monotonous day at Freddie Mac. Every day I walk in and talk to the dude in the cubicle across from me about how his day was yesterday, and he always says the same thing about how smart his kid is or some shit. It's literally the same cycle every day. Sometimes I think about when I worked at Ruby Tuesday (I still have dreams about the place) and how shitty I thought it was, but now that I think about it I had the most fun there than I will at any other job. Everything was so shitty, the people sucked nuts, and my managers were asshats but man was it good times throwing food at people and having something new happen every day.

That being said, yes, retail really does blow and it's definitely not something fun to be doing for four years. I'm glad you left before they made you manager, because you're right, managers in retail are pretty much only there because they had no one else to promote. The way you quit Ritz reminds me of Waiting...
