Foozer 9/10/05

We went to see Foo Fighters and Weezer last night in Ft. Lauderdale. The show was nearly 4 hours long, including all the set changes. A new band called Mae, opened the show. We thought they were pretty good.

I have never been a Weezer fan, but they are a good live band. Their music is just much too sedated for me. It seemed like the people in front of us and beside us were huge Weezer fans and they danced frantically and sang along to every single song, lol, which gave us much amusement and entertainment. Alex looked around and said he thought we must have ended up in the "O.C." section. Weezer are just not our style of music. Of course the best picture out of over 50 was one of Weezer, lol, damnit.

God bless the Foo Fighters for saving the night. Their set made sitting through all the gooey emo stuff worth it. They blasted onto the stage with "In Your Honor." They had so much energy.

I don't think I can remember the entire setlist, but it included "Everlong," "Stacked Actors," "Learn to Fly," "Times Like These," "Breakout," "Monkey Wrench," "DOA," and "All My Life." They also did "Born on the Bayou" (cover of an old Creedance Clearwater Revival song) which they had performed the night before on a benefit for victims of hurricane Katrina. I thought that was really cool.

"DOA"

Dave Grohl is hysterically funny and quite a spaz. Dave: "I don't care if you don't buy the album and you download all the songs. I don't need anymore money. I just want you to sing along to the fucking songs!" Getting a decent pic of him standing still with good lighting proved to be quite impossible. He is true rock royalty.

Foo Fighters gave an incredible show. I was so blown away. When the concert was over it was storming really bad outside. We roamed around the parking lot (with thousands of other people) in pouring rain and lightening trying to find our car. We couldn't find it! Alex was trying to make the alarm go off so we could hear where it was, but with everyone else doing the same thing and running around in the rain, it wasn't working so well, lol. It was raining so hard we could hardly see where we were walking. By the time we finally found the car, we were completely soaked. Somehow, in a weird way, it seemed like an appropriate ending to the evening. &hearts
