2. Fight or Flight
Jin couldn’t remember the last time he was this scared.
Should have listened to Pi, should have listened to Pi, should have listened to Pi…
His eyes darted left and right. The nearest exit was behind the girls so that was out. He could try to make a dash into the auditorium but who knows how many girls were still in there. Maybe I could make a plea bargain…hmmm….I could give them my shirt? Or maybe Pi’s phone numb-
“Hey, isn’t that Yamapi?”
His head whipped around. “Pi?”
Someone was standing behind him wearing the Kurosagi costume, a pair of shades, and a rather bored expression. Somewhat Pi-like…but…did Pi suddenly lose ten centimeters or what?
Jin took a step forward. “Pi, when did you get that short-”
A rather familiar goofy grin suddenly plastered itself on the guy’s face.
Jin’s eyes widened. “Hika-”
“Yamapi!”
“Yamashita-kun!”
“Yamapiiii!”
Jin whipped around. “Oh shit-”
Suddenly, a hand latched onto his back and pulled him back, just in time to avoid the sudden sea of fangirls storming after ‘Pi’.
Normally, Jin might have been grateful. But he was never one for actually saying that sort of thing aloud. Or getting dragged around like a tote bag.“Hey, kid, thanks for the help but could you please let me go-OW!”
He suddenly found himself face to face with the floor, a door slamming shut behind him. “Hey, asshole, what the-”
Jin froze. “Ko-chan?!”
[~/-/~]
Jin had never heard Pi laugh that hard in his life.
“Shut up, you asshole!”
“I told you you shouldn’t have gone! I. Told. You. Hmm…what‘s the score now…Pi: 83, Bakanishi: -20, right?”
“Negative 23, actually-Shut up!” Jin frowned. “Can it, Pi, it’s bad enough.”
“Nah, it’s not that bad. Hikaru said he only got away with a few scrapes and lipstick marks so it could have been worse.”
“I don’t know where the guy even got the idea of doing that…where’d he even get the getup?”
“The Jimusho bought the costume from the show a while ago in case they ever decide to do another production. And one never knows how Hika manages to do half the stuff he does…that kid can get away with pretty much anything when he feels like it. I guess today was one of those days.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“How’s Yabu?”
Jin sighed. “No idea.”
“You didn’t talk to him yet?”
“No, I have…it’s just getting him to talk to me that’s the problem. We got back to his house an hour ago but the kid hasn’t said a word to me all da-Shit,” Jin whispered, watching Yabu close the door behind him. “Pi, I got to go. I’ll be home soon so don’t pine after me for too long, kay?”
“Jin, I swear-”
He flipped the phone closed. He’s too easy to mess with.
“Thought you could use something to eat,” Yabu whispered softly, holding up a bowl of ramen in his hands. “Mom said you could stay the night if you want to. She and my sister are with Dad in Osaka right now for a business trip.”
“You didn’t go with them?”
“I had the concert. I couldn’t really get out of that, could I?”
“Don’t you normally stay with Shoon when they’re out of town?”
Jin knew he said something wrong the second those words came out of his mouth. “Kota, I-”
Yabu whipped around. “Don’t. Don’t even, Akanishi-kun…just don’t.”
He stood up. “I’m sor-”
“Don’t!”
Jin groaned. “Damn it, Kota, I can’t-”
“Stop calling me that, Akanishi-kun.”
“What?”
“Kota.”
“It’s your name, isn’t it?” Jin frowned. “And furthermore, since when are you calling me Akanishi-kun? You’ve never called me that before!”
Yabu glared coldly. “Why does it matter?”
He slapped his forehead, frustrated. “It matters because-because-it just does!”
“If you’re done-”
Jin slammed his arm against the door. “No, I’m not done so don’t you dare leave.”
Yabu spun around to glare at him. “It’s my house, Akanishi-kun, who the hell made you in charge of it?”
“It doesn’t mean you can leave before I get some ans-Kota!”
Yabu ignored him, striding past the angry KAT-TUN star towards his bed. Jin groaned. “Where the hell do you think you’re goi-are you seriously considering climbing out onto the roof?”
The younger boy pushed the window open. “It’s a clear shot to the ground, it’s only one story-oof!”
Jin wasn’t sure what made him do it but suddenly, he was on the bed, Yabu was below him, and they were wrestling for dominance. “Kota-”
“Get off me!” Yabu growled. “What the hell has come over you?”
“Me?!” Jin hissed, pinning down his kouhai easily. Seriously, does this kid even know the meaning of the words ‘all-you-can-eat-buffet’? “I’m not the one trying to dive off a roof!”
“It’s only one story up!” Yabu replied. “And anything’s better than being stuck in here with you!”
His eyes widened. Really?
Yabu took advantage of the moment, using the older boy’s distraction to continue his struggle anew. Jin shook his head wildly. He doesn’t mean it. He’s just mad. He doesn’t mean it. “Kota-Shit!”
Suddenly, they toppled off the bed, Yabu’s head crashing against the floor roughly.
Jin’s eyes widened. “Fuck, Kota, I-”
“Get away from me,” Yabu hissed, backing away slowly. “God, Akanishi-kun, just-”
He cut off, sighing softly as he tried to stand up.
Only to fall back down again.
Jin leapt up in time to catch Yabu against him. “Ko-chan?”
Yabu tried to push away at him. “It’s fine, Akanishi-kun, just-”
He hissed softly as his friend’s probing fingers met bloody hair. “Jin-”
“No, Kota,” Jin pulled the boy up against him. “Shit, this is all my fault.”
The younger boy laughed sardonically as he leaned against him. “You think?”
Jin smiled. “At least you’re laughing.”
“Yeah, well…” Yabu smiled sadly. “I can’t stay mad at you. God, I wish I could though.”
His heart clenched. “Kota-”
“Jin, don’t,” Yabu sighed, swaying dangerously as he tried to push away from him. “Just…just get out of here, alright?”
“Kota…” The words died on his lips as Yabu crashed against him, his eyes closed. “Fuck, Kota, wake up!”
A/N: Gods above.
Sorry for the slight oddity of this chapter…Yabu managed to start being a fighter all of a sudden. I figure it’s based on fight or flight syndrome. He’s not really looking to talk to Jin right now but when Jin blocks his way out, I guess it sort of kicks in. Hopefully, no one freaks out TOO badly at the ending (I’m not going to spoil anything but…XD, I kind of want to see how you react).
Sorry that this chapter’s slightly late but I’ve been working on college applications and getting better from the flu. Actually, writing this is more for therapy as something happened earlier tonight that kind of made me start crying hysterically. Kiyu-chan managed to make me feel better by helping me write so props to her again. But really, apologies for how much this chapter sucked in part due to what happened but I really can’t find it in me to change it. I’m sorry that I might sound a little bit apathetic but after this, I’m planning to conk out and pray that I don’t start crying again. Hopefully, I’m not bumming you guys out…but I’m really, really scared of going to school on Tuesday. It’s not going to be a good week. And I will probably start crying again. Joy of joys.
Can I ask a favor and ask that you guys comment? Sorry to actually ask but…I kind of could use a pick-me-up. Which means that I’m going to indulge in Oreos and subbed Arashi clips. Hopefully, watching Sho fail at doing a backflip will make this day get a little better. It normally does.
Sorry again for the A/N being so wangsty…I hope you guys enjoy?
