In the eyes of a typical American, nothing is ever our fault. Blame your parents. Blame your children. Blame the government. Blame the lack of government regulation. Blame anyone but yourself. It seems that the easiest way to solve a problem is to make it someone else’s problem, hence such solutions as bailout plans and so forth. By this definition, John Perkins is not the typical American. He recognizes that problems exist, as he has written multiple books surrounding the topic of our local and global economies, and has even coined the term “economic hit man”, but his approach to solutions is far more different than those before him. Acknowledging a problem as your own and reaching solutions within your grasp is not something that is kindled in the cold hearts of this era, however John Perkins writes with an enlightened approach, “We have entered one of the most important periods in human history, the Time of Prophecies. We have the opportunity to lift ourselves to new levels of consciousness. This time was foretold over the past centuries around the world. Now it is up to us - you and me - to make it happen. His fresh look on outdated but still thriving tribulations creates a new energy within his readers and the tone and spectrum of his writing in his book Hoodwinked: An Economic Hit Man Reveals Why the World Financial Markets IMPLODED- and What We Need to Do to Remake Them allows for a broadened horizon in discussing local and global affairs.
