the majority of the people i work with are puerto rican. this is so cool to me. not just cool because i am kind of learning about a different culture and people without even leaving the united states, but i get to learn some spanish along the way. its also kind of weird because back home all of the hispanic/latino people are usually (not always, but usually) the physical labor type people that most people look down on. i am not racist towards them in the least, but im stating the facts. its so weird to have a hispanic not only be my coworker but also my superior. i have never gotten that at any other job i have had. one of my shift coordinators is a little old puerto rican man who is short, round, and graying and a wonderful individual. everytime he is in charge when i come in to work he greets me and says "hola mami, you look beautiful today." i always laugh when he says this because he knows how much i hate our uniforms. one thing about disney is that nearly everyone's "costumes" (aka uniforms with a cooler name) look ridiculous. the shirt isnt so bad, its just a simple unisex button down, but the pants are pleated high waisted khakis. they are bearable but definitely not something i would pick out on my own. but oh well...you do what youve got to do when youre a slave to the mouse.
