musics in my soul

i am shamelessly up to date on pop-culture and would like to take a moment to be completely shallow.

emily's take on the current state of the music industry.

jessica simpson...stop trying. no one likes you anymore. you're a bad luck charm to the cowboys and you're not a country music star. you've already been boo-ed off the stage once. take a hint...if you really wanted to go country then you should have started out that way miss i'll say im from texas when its convenient.

all these froo-froo jonas bashing blond country music chicks need to back up and get their own styles instead of copying off each other. taylor swift is an amazing artist but needs to grow up and stop sounding like a little whiny high school girl in interviews. and we need to give more credit to miranda lambert. she is like the undiscovered shit in nashville. love her people, love her! and carrie, god bless her soul, she's got the pipes now she just needs to learn from tim mcgraw and let it go! dont just sing it sister, perform it, live it, be it! and dont ever let your people let you sing paradise city again. good song, but not for you.

more people need to realize how amazing keith urban is. he's out of rehab and is a husband and father. he is probably my favorite male country artist out there right now.

danity kane: aubrey needs to remember the girl she was when she was picked for the band. of course they are all going to grow and change, but sister is utterly and completely a different person. she's attempting to be an amateur porn star and making herself, her label, and her group look trashy. there is a difference in looking sexy and classy, and in looking like a cheap hooker. she is flirting with the line. everyone is hating on diddy right now for breaking up the band, but really they broke up themselves. he just shed the light on it.

i also believe that lauryn hill would be the answer to our prayers. hip hop is not so much moving forward right now as it is just going in circles from what i can see. we need someone old school who knows how to bring it to bring it back. i know shes doing the mom thing right now, but it would be a sin for her to never make music again.

and christina aguilerra...oh girl! people love love LOVED you with the baby jane image. not to say that andy warhol wasnt and still is the shit, but why would you take it from big band swing, soul, R and B to a pop culture, pop art, "super hero" vibe. isnt that what you were trying to stay away from? ill always love you, but i dont think this new look will do any justice to showcasing your vocal talent. i dont want you to go stale and re-relase the same album every year like kenny chesney, but you also dont have to create a completely new image and adopt a child every year like madonna either. i think somewhere in between would suit you just fine.

hanson should re-release mmmBop as a single. yes, it already came out. but they have re-recorded it now as grown men instead of little girls. i just want the up-to-date version to play when i request it on the jukebox at tolly ho.

and last but not least...i am ecstatically excited to get the new beyonce album. it doesnt have as much hype as b-day, but im excited to hear what a newly married woman has to say about love and everything else in the world. bring it on sahsa fierce!
