YAY MICHAEL PHELPS.
That was really, really late. Oh, well.
and YAY JASON LEZAK. :D
So, pretty much all I've watched in the Olympics so far is swimming, and some gymnastics (read: barely any). I saw a bit of cycling, but blah. 'Cause, three more finals for Phelps. YEAH. I'm saving as many of the 'Beijing 2008' sections of the paper as I can, I will keep them in my special drawer where I keep newspaper cutouts and random stuff. Yay. At first I was just going to cut out sections, but then I changed my mind. Haha.
Well, on to Cure-related stuffs. Guess what's pretty darn cool? Yesterday, the fourth single came out AND it was Robert & Mary's wedding anniversary. :) Cool, huh? Yes, yes it is. I think it's sweet that Robert's known her since he was fourteen. As inconsiquenstial as it should be to me, it just makes me happy.
Sooo.. now The Only One, Freakshow, Sleep When I'm Dead, and A Perfect Boy are all out.... and I only have The Only One. And I want to get the remix EP (Hypnogogic States) that comes out September 13th, too. The proceeds go toward a good cause, okay? Let's just say I'm a good person. I hope the album doesn't get delayed any further than October 13th, because then Halloween won't be the only exciting thing happening that month. And, besides, I'll need something to pick me up nine days after I take the SAT. x] I wonder what it's going to be called? :/ Hypnogogic States is an interesting name for the EP, because I learned something new... I learned what the phrase meant. xD See! The Cure keeps making me learn new things! THEY ARE GOOD FOR ME. :D I read existentialist literature because of them (well, only L'etranger, and in English). Someday, somehow I will get my hands on Charlotte Sometimes.
I feel really stupid. How could it escape my notice that Jacob Black is so siriusly like Sirius? D: Well, okay, to give myself some credit, I did notice they had the same last name a long time ago (yay me).
They are both essentially dogs (haha) and, you know, really good-looking. ;D AND HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS --> they both know how to ride a bike! x] I feel I have failed myself as a Sirius-fan. I will somehow redeem myself. Stop stealing from good authors Meyer! STOP IT. NOW. I do not care if you have a JKR fetish, don't publish it, please.
I so waste my time on
TwilightSucks.com's
message boards (though I lurk more than I post). There's always something interesting to read. :) And, so, when I was going in for a look today (while taking a break from a summer assignment), I came across
this thread about the portrayal of Native Americans in Twilight. It's pretty interesting. Someone posted a link to an article that made me go WTF?!... click
here for the article. I'm seriously having fun link-ing in this paragraph. xD
Oh, a similarity I would have no way of having recognized: I've never read Nabokov's Lolita, even though I want to, so I didn't catch this odd similarity (or maybe it's just a strange coincidence?). Anyway, Disdainful Soul posted another interesting (I use this word way too much) thing on the 'Portrayal of Native Americans':
Clare Quilty from Lolita. Claire + Quil in Twilight?! Coincidence or conspiracy?! :O
Sometimes I'm confused as to how much of this was intentional. I don't think Meyer ever meant her book to be this bad and to contain all the problems (anti-feminism, abusive relationships, portrayal of Native Americans) it does... but if she never read the book over without publishing it... BLAH. I will not talk about this further... for now. Or else I will get riled up. >.>
There were many other things I wanted to say, but I've completely forgotten (as usual), so it'll be in the next post, whenever that is. Maybe soon, maybe not. xD
Ever since I listened to it, "Lola" by The Kinks has been playing over and over in my head. "La la la Lola... LOLA" something like "I'm not dumb but I can't understand why she walks like a woman and talks like a man... Lola.. lalalala" I haven't been helping myself by listening to it all the time, either (HAH! LJ just autosaved my draft at 12:12:12PM!).
