i've finally managed to finish sho's tokujo kabachi last week. i'll try to give my review w/o spoiling too much for the sake of those who hasn't seen/finished it yet. before i started watching it i honestly had some doubts whether i'll like it or not. my friend gave me my copy of takujo, kaibutsu & natsuniji & i wanted to watch tokujo last. at first i thought it was gonna be a drag since it's something about law stuffs. my friend even told me she doesn't know a lot of sho-wifeys who finished watching the drama though she enjoyed it herself. so reluctantly i followed her advice to watch the dramas chronologically (tokujo-kaibutsu-natsuniji).
i was surprised that i actually enjoyed it too. it was fun learning those legal stuffs (though i don't know if it's applicable in our country) & hearing sho asking those questions Quiz Show style ("mondai desu~") definitely reminded me of MC Kamiyama ^_^. plus i also enjoyed sho's expressions there. i thought he was a bit exaggerated in some of them but when i found out the drama was based on a manga i thought it was understandable. in fact it's not really like you haven't seen some of his expressions from the drama in their shows. i'd say his acting there was very sho-kun. but i also think his acting has improved, specially during his dramatic scenes.
perhaps owing it to his image, sho has convincingly portrayed tamura's character as a very passionate & straight legal professional. and i think his chemistry w/ maki-chan works quite well. i personally liked scenes where he gets mad/frustrated whenever someone takes advantage of the weak but most of all i liked the scene of tamura playing with the little girl (no matter how short or significant that scene may be :p). cho kawaii!!! <3 and unbelievably, the first episode made me cry. it was that story between 2 long time friends with one owing the other. the ending of the first episode really touched me (or maybe i was just feeling a bit emotional that time too..hehe). i also liked how each story seemed like a battle of wits between them & the antagonists & also the lessons learned from each of the episodes. oh, and one more thing...i love the theme song of course (Troublemaker)!!!
i was actually hoping for a longer screen time for ohno-kun as a lawyer. it definitely brought back memories of naruse! the only thing i didn't like so much about it is how sho's dad gave up that easily in the end. i was expecting a more heated battle between the 2 of them.
all in all it was an enjoyable drama for me. it has the elements of drama, comedy, friendship, camaraderie, family values, romance, etc. so i suggest for those who had doubts like me & haven't watched it yet (or stopped watching it) to start watching it. maybe you'll find some boring parts here & there but i think it's still fun to watch.
