Those ideas about the Naxi and other minorities are very prone to romanticization and unfortunately, as you'll see if you visit Yunnan, tools in gross misappropriation and consumerism. There's a great book out there called "Ethnic Minority Issues in Yunnan," it's a student publication edited by Sam Mitchell. I recommend it.
But as I've learned from my short time here, minorities are just incredibly romantic, that's what they do. And they dance a lot! How jolly it must be. Sorry - bitchy today due to emotionally repulsive 听和说 teacher.
