Arthur still was sure what had prompted him to say "yes" to Eames' request for a date ("just one date"). He hadn't even given him an answer at first; told him he needed to think about it. He had then called the tabby the next day and gave him an affirmative answer and making sure to state how this would be a casual type of date, that Eames didn't need to try and impress him with booking at a fancy restaurant or anything of the like.
If Eames really wanted to "prove" to Arthur that he was interested in him, they should focus more on each other and not the setting. So, Arthur would let him pick (since the whole thing was his idea) and he insisted on picking Arthur up ("like a proper gentleman would" - to which Arthur rolled his eyes but accepted it nevertheless). At work they had continued with the job, Arthur making it all business and not even discussing what they were planning on doing outside of the job - and making that sentiment very clear to Eames as well.
When the night of the planned date arrived, Arthur had dressed casually after taking a shower and making sure his fur was groomed into place (even while not slicking his hair back like he did for work). He put on jeans, a button-down shirt, a sweater vest, and the only thing on him that didn't seem casual were his polished shoes. By the time he was ready, he still had a half hour before Eames was suppose to arrive.
All that was left to do now was wait. So he plopped down on the couch with a sigh, tail draped over one arm of the couch and did just that.
