Love him or hate him, Obama's
most recent speech cracked me up in at least one spot:
Addressing Republicans balking at spending the 800 billion: "What do you think a stimulus is?" Obama asked incredulously. "It’s spending - that's the whole point! Seriously.”
For my two cents, while I'm just like everyone else who is becoming physically ill at the thought of the money that is being approved for the bailout and the stimulus packages, I do agree that tax cuts don't do a damn thing. Not only have the past 8 years just dug us deeper into national debt, but a tax cut isn't going to turn the economy around at this point. First, $1000 bucks does make a dent in people's daily lives - hell, $5000 doesn't, and a lot of people are like me and just put their stimulus check right into savings, not into spending.
