I bought the book Yummi 'Gurumi a couple of months ago, but hadn't used any of the patterns until yesterday. I tried one of the easier, quick patterns and made this little cake as a gift to my boss for her birthday. She's already got a collection on her desk of amigurumi I've given to her in the past couple of years.

The dome shape reminds me of the prinsesstårta. It stands 3" (7.6 cm) tall, from the cake base to the top of the strawberry. As I do with my cake-shaped amigurumi, I put a little piece of corrugated board inside before sewing it shut so that it sits perfectly flat. I love how this cake turned out and want to try making other flavors. It only took me a few hours to work the whole thing, so it's definitely a good pattern to use when I feel like whipping up a quick amigurumi. Coming up next - a Christmas amigurumi!
