Interest on a book-reading-session?

Hello,

I want to ask if there is interest for a shared book-reading session. Basically we would re-read the first part of Little Wome (and if there is interest also the others) and we would have a discussion for every chapter. You could say what you love, like, hate or what is surprising for you.

Also I personally would love a thing because I could ( Read more... )

A read-a-long sounds like fun. I've done that sort of thing in other communities, and always enjoyed it.

Ah so this is the English name for this... I did this in my old book forum and it was fun! So I really hope herare are some other people who want to try such a thing.

At the moment I'm unsure if I should start with Little Women and Good Wives (which are mostly published in one book in Germany) or only open a read-a-long for the first part of Little Women. Hmm.

I think that Little Women and Good Wives are published as one book in most countries. It might be worth starting with part one to see if it generates discussion, then going on to part two or even the sequel books once we see people are joining in.

Yes, I think this would be the best. At the moment I search for a picture of the March children which I could use as a banner...

This will be really interesting---I, alas, only speak English--but I'll be fascinated to hear some of the discussion of the fic in other languages. I've read Little Women so many times--but never had a group of people that I can talk about all the little details--also, I'm completely fascinated with Louisa May as a real life person and will like thinking about how the characters are and are not reflective of her life. Looking forward to this.

I'm lucky that my mum and my big sister also love the story so I had two people to discuss the book but I think with more people it would be so amazing and fun.

And I also love to compare things about Alcotts life with the book. Like Beth who is like her own sister and also died young. Or Laurie who was formed after Alcott's real lover.
