So yea, about yesterday. I woke up at 9 AM (really early for me i've been averaging 1 PM). Anyway, I dropped Tom off on campus and called my insurance company to set up insurance on my new car. I get an amazing quote. I haven't had ticket in over three years, so I'm an "excellent driver", shocking. I'm feeling all productive, so I head to the tag/title office to officially switch the saab into my name (yay!!!)and pay the taxes on the purchase (boo).
All was going well. I was feeling adult, having my own insurance, a car with only my name on the title, blah, blah, blah. Then I hit a minor snag, the tag agency only excepts cash or personal checks and being that I'm not one to carry around $800 I had to go home for the check book, whatever. So I'm heading back to the tag agency with check book in hand when I GET PULLED OVER.
I'm totally freaking out. I have no idea what I did I wasn't even speeding, I'm not even in my car (tom's). So I pull into a parking lot and roll down the window. Standard procedure, then the officer yells for me to get out of the car and come towards the rear of my vehicle (what the fuck). I'm now convinced he thinks I'm drunk (at 11 in the morning). So shaking I get out of my car and go towards the officer, who I'll admit looks vaguely familiar. He questions me on if I know why I got pulled over and such. So according to this guy I ran a red light 3 miles down the road (for gainesville residents I was by Target and he said I ran the turn signal on 34th). So he starts writing stuff on his little pad and I'm freaking out because on top of getting a ticket I now have to call the insurance lady I talked to 20 minutes ago and explain that I've somehow gotten a ticket since we last spoke.
I'm watching the officer when I realize he was the same officer standing outside the tag agency when I went in the first time. So he's looking at my license and he goes "wait I remember you" , me-"yea outside that tag agency", him-"no, you're dating that guy at hunter's run" me-"huh?", him-"yea I gave you a noise citation for that party back in january", me-"oh yea, I remember" (not really I was drunk), him-"are you guys still dating", me-"yea", him-"oh".
With that settled he writes me a warning for running a red light and sends me on my way. Being the girl I am I have a minor break down in the car, a few tears, call tom, then head to the tag agency. You'd think that would be the last of that, but when I got out of the tag place (I had told him I was heading back there) he was outside to see if I was "okay".
In conclusion the whole thing was entirely too weird for me :p
Regardless a good weekend. Sold my mazda for a great price. Hit up Jenny's party last night and threw an impromptu pool party today.
Good times, weird cops.
