Went to the world's largest floating book fair the other day! (Well...I went twice!)
They have about 400 volunteers on board with 60 different nationalities. Except for the book fair they help to educate people as well; such as teaching people about hygiene or teach them to sew. They also bring water purifiers to communities, perform optical exams and they even help out with building schools. What they do is beyond admirable.
The most volunteers stay on the ship up to 2 years and travel the world. Even when the ship is in a port for one week, they work 5 to 6 days and get 1 or 2 days off.
I meet this super sweet Swede on the ship; She was my age. I feel sort of lame as I'm only staying in one country when she has seen countless countries and met with so many people. But it spiked me and made me feel that I really need to explore Japan more. Since I'm here I should seize the moment!
Today they're leaving Japan, sailing off to South Korea.
I really hope that I can meet her again! :)
Books!!
