Well, I've already had to start explaining to people that I can't come to parties in October. I've had 2 birthday invites and a Hallowe'en party invite, and maybe I'm crazy, but I will have literally just had a baby.
What do normal people do when they have just given birth? I have a birthday invite for 4 days after the due date, one for a week after, and the Hallowe'en party for 2 weeks after the due date. Assuming that the baby comes on time, I'm going to be exhausted, busted up, sore, sleep deprived, and, oh yeah, caring for a freaking new born.
People are like "just bring the baby with you!". Um, do people do that? Is that done? Do you bring new born babies to parties when they are one and two weeks old?
Am I crazy saying no to these things? I've already gotten the "Oh, you are already letting the baby bring you down" comments from some people.
Hello, it's a BABY! I think that's more important than your party. I don't want to expose him to germs. It's not like I got a cat. I can't just pretend my life is exactly the same, as free wheeling and easy.
Or am I paranoid? Do people bring new born infants everywhere? Is this the done thing? MAYBE at Christmas, when he is a few months old and has had some of his vaccinations. MAYBE we can have a few people over or I can attend a small gathering of a few friends who are clean and quiet. But a party? With drinking?
Am I being crazy? Please advise.
