[Latvia’s voice is quieter than usual, almost a whisper. It’s obvious by his slowly cracking voice that he’s stressed. Which would be the understatement of the year, he was more than stressed. The little nation speaks slowly.]
I-It’s my fault that A-America got arrested. I-If I hadn’t run away f-from Russia… n-none of this would h-have happened. I-I should have j-just stayed put w-with Russia. Then m-my arm wouldn’t have b-been broken, the apartment would still b-be there and m-my big brothers and P-Poland would be… s-safe.
[He takes a sharp intake of breath, trying to stifle any sobs that wish to break free. It’s kind of shaky when he breathes but he has it controlled for once while the communicator is recording. ]
A-and! I know t-the police are j-just doing their jobs b-but… I-I agree with Prussia! T-things work differently for us… I-I mean that’s n-no excuse for the l-law but.. I mean… it’s hard to believe but y-you have to trust us! W-we function d-differently! E-even our bodies, l-like our colds a-aren’t t-the kind of colds t-that our citizens experience but o-our people suffer f-from our colds! I-it’s kind of like the economy suffering b-but even with t-that example, i-it’s just really c-complicated to explain.
B-but surely you cannot expect u-us to come from o-our own worlds u-used to our l-laws and be e-expected to k-know and obey y-yours! C-countries like Mister America, and M-mister Russia-sir among others w-worked hard to earn t-their titles or respect or p-power! Y-you can’t honestly expect us t-to know your l-laws, mister and misses police men and women. B-besides, each nation, even in o-other worlds, h-hold different standards f-for laws!
[Latvia pauses, considering what he wants to say before he turns off the communicator.]
I’m sorry.
everyone works harder it seems,
breathe- slowly in and out,
blame me please,
i'm sorry i'm sorry,
distressed beyond thinking
