The Month of May

May 28, 2007 16:58

This past month has been completely crazy. I've worked pretty much every day for 12 hours at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This past Friday was Carb Day with a concert by Kid Rock. Josh and I decided to go...So we started from the back of the 30,000 person crowd and moved towards the stage...big mistake. I have never been so violated by so many drunks in my life. We eventually made it towards the center of the crowd where there was this gated in sound area. We got there and on the ground was this girl completely passed out, she looked dead, and I couldn't tell if she was breathing. We were holding that gate from the crowd and waiting for the EMT to arrive. This woman was bitching to me that her little boy was getting trampled by the crowd and I just wanted to scream to her drunken ass, "Then don't bring your little boy to a concert dumbass!!" But of course I couldn't, so I said I don't know what to tell you and asked the little boy if he was alright. We got inside of that gate and made our way to the front of the stage at which point a supervisor came over and said thanks for volunteering you're working now. So we held back the VIP crowd from the stage all while standing right next to 9 foot speakers. People started fighting in the crowd and a cop ran over and grabbed Josh and I and told us to jump in with him to help break up the fight...that was a little scary...the cop tackled this giant beast of a man and I helped him over the fence. This happened about 3 times. The crowd would also pick up these women who were heat exhausted and drop them over the fence. The first woman was able to walk the next one however was a complete mess with eyes rolling in the back of her head, this really freaked me out as I screamed for a medic. After all of that it was great though. Loud...but great. We almost got his autograph but another stupid supervisor told us to leave...bastard. I also saw Ludicris and that actor that plays in "John Tucker Must Die"...I got his picture. He was dancing behind me for awhile with his shirt off and I couldn't help but giggle because if my boat floated the other way that would have excited me, but it doesn't, so I was watching the Kid Rock dancing girls. But I got both their pictures. Yesterday was race day. I worked from 5:30 AM Saturday until 8:30 PM Sunday. I slept in my car, half way in the car, half way in the trunk. The Coke lot across the street was filled with camping drunks screaming and ranting and blasting music all night long with motorcycles cruising up and down the road. I think the most beautiful noise I heard was when it started to pour and everything got quiet. I almost thought the race wouldn't happen because it was raining but when it started Josh and I went into the track and got right into middle of everything. I even went down into the pits and got some great pictures of Ashley Judd, Mario Andretti, Tony Kanaan's pit stop and other great pictures which I will post sometime soon. We had a rain delay for about 2 hours or so, but I didn't mind because they had already reached 101 laps and once they hit that mark it's an official race so I didn't have to go back their today and do all of that crazyness over again. They restarted the race for about 30 minutes before it started raining again and Dario Franchetti won and my family put me in a pole and he was one of my drivers so I won $33 which of course went towards a tank of gas (how sad). Now I wait for 13 days until the Formula One race...until then...
