Easter was kind of a let-down this year. I'm not sure what I was expecting...I think I was expecting some reflection inspiration and warm fuzzies, but I didn't find either of those. It was cold, too.
Like Christmas, I feel like it's one of those holidays that's more joyful when small children are around. And there are no small children in my family right now. We had a gas fire in the stove from broiling sweet potato marshmallows, which freaked a lot of people out. My aunt thought that the stove was going to explode and fire department came. Not just one fireman...5 of them. It was a little awkward and I wish my camera wasn't in the foyer, cause that would have made for some hilarious photos.
The adults in my family are old and have ADD. Everyone wanted to take a nap after lunch so I did too. And that was my Easter.
Even the church service was lame. They built a BRIDGE in the sanctuary. A giant freaking wooden bridge. And there were flowers and foliage and drama presentations. And multi-media experiences. And unconvincing white gospel music. It was a theater extravaganza and not a good one. I don't go to church to be entertained. Even the message was ridiculously lame, and our pastor is pretty good, so I can usually stomach the rest. If you can't survive one hour of reverence and worship once a week, then maybe that's not the churches problem.
Bible on Broadway on Sunday mornings just does not cut it for me. They should call it "Bible Belt - the musical!"...which calls to mind more puns than I intended. Young composers with no inspiration -- get on it! Call if you need a librettist. :-p
On the bright side, I was able to fit into a dress that has bunnies all of it that I bought a year ago from Target "hoping" it would fit someday, and apparently that day was yesterday. So, awesome.
I was told a few days ago that I have interesting brown eyes (as opposed to boring ones?). I guess some people's brown eyes are dull?? Any testimonies to this statement?
So yeah, I'm trying to look on the bright side for the week. Happi's 21st birthday is TONIGHT so a bunch of us are going out to dinner. And I'm meeting up with this cool chick from Southern Pines and we're going to see Little Women in Sanford. Groovy.
