Thanksgiving Leftovers

Thanksgiving has come and gone, so I can dig out the Christmas music and ornaments and feel no shame. Most of the time was spent with the boyfriend and over the course of 5 days there was surprisingly, little conflict! yay. Maybe I'm not the misanthrope I thought I was. Actually, I've been making valiant efforts not to be all "WAH, listen to my problems" and so far it's making things more the merrier.

T-giving Eve, we went out the Cheesecake Factory for some belated birthday dining and went to see "Enchanted". I loved it, thought it was sweet and hilarious and full of Disney magic. Thanksgiving Day was delightful, both sides of the family came down to Aunt Jane's this year for the feast...which meant cousins on both sides to entertain and get to accept the BF. Mostly all went well, though I was feeling rather fatigued the entire week. Though we did get a rowdy game of "Things...in a box" going, which was great bonding time. I had a blast. Jane and Happi got me a springpan and a cookbook of cheesecake recipes, and if mine are half as good as hers, well that's grand.

Yesterday we went out to lunch in Chapel Hill with my ladies from high school. we overslept but managed to get there on time. Thankfully Jenn brought her boyfriend so Sean wasn't alone. I had forgotten what it was like to be around thoughtful, intellectual driven people who aren't in the arts. It's refreshing and intimidating at the same time (and Margot if you're reading this, WE MISSED YOU). Alex's friend from Tufts dined with us too and she exclaimed "I think it's so cool that you guys have been friends for this long!" I couldn't agree more.

Inspired by Jenn and Andrew, Sean and I went to Southern Season and I fell in love with the place all over again. If you haven't heard of it, it's a HUGE gourmet grocery store and kitchenwares store with some southern flavor thrown in here and there. I think the culinary arts are our thing, the last time we were this giddy, it was at the Martha Stewart kitchen collection in Macy's (at this point, Southern Season might be our new registry place, lol). We just oohed and aahed over the whole store together. We got excited over the spices, the imported chocolates, the cheeses. I ended up going home with some Moravian Spice Cookies and Comte St Antoine cheese (soooooo good). That evening, Sean took me to my first NHL game. Go Canes!! Well, I love being a sports spectator, so I definitely loved it. Canes pulled through in the 3rd period, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3. We already decided to go to another NHL game and possibly an NBA game down in Florida with his high school friends over Christmas. This is why I love him. We have fun on dates. Nothing feels stressed or unnatural. We can go from a cheese-tasting to a hockey game with ease, and to me, that's fantastic.

Other notes about the week:
- Super Mario Galaxy is worth the Wii alone. it's fantastic.
- Making my Christmas List makes me feel greedy
- I still don't love Classical Christmas music, but I guess I can grow to like it...especially after being exposed to it so much in the car
- I got me a Christmas tree at Target. Time to deck my halls!!
- Orange Chicken and Fried Rice from Panda Express will always hit the spot.

friends, hockey, thanksgiving, christmas, sean
