Maybe this has come up somewhere before, but I've not seen it, so consider this: Cote wants to negotiate a one year contract so that she can be on the same contract schedule as her peers. Yes, she's on the same as Mark, but since he's an executive producer, they are not in the same league when negotiations start. If Cote is on the same schedule as Micheal, David, Pauley, Sean, and Brian, together they can bring a lot more pressure to bear to assure better pay for all - remember the Cheers! bunch? Moonves says they offered her a lot of money, but doesn't say anything about her other desires. Then they offered her more money and by that time she's got her back up and says to herself, this has become a matter of principle now - no backing down. She's out there on her own - no cast mate on the same schedule and possibly no one giving her moral support. It gets to the decision point and given the possible frustration of lack of real negotiation for what she sees as a real goal, she tells them "No deal." Of course they can't understand it - doesn't money talk in Hollywood? Shouldn't she have just been a good girl and taken her best offer without a backward glance? Why would she quit over something as mundane as a one year contract? Seems pretty straightforward to me, but I may just be writing fanfiction here. Just some thoughts...and if Cote doesn't say -at some point- "I quit because I wanted to" I'm not going to believe it just because some jerkwad at the top of CBS says so.
I could see it. if it really happened like this, I imagine everyone scrambling. ESPECIALLY after the shitstorm to end all shitstorms. I do think she could be back for future eps. there is only one thing I care about. I want Tony and Ziva to get their happy ending. I NEED IT.
