Food for thought

Just a tiny bit of quick-and-dirty musing, since I won't have the time to do the full-blown review that's been scratching at my leg before the preview comes out tonight. Sooo, let me just pull out one thought from there about the next episode, throw it out here just so it's out of my head, and hopefully it'll leave you pondering a bit. Or excited. ( Read more... )

ncis: season ten, thinky thoughts, ncis: tiva!squee, ncis: tony/ziva

Roughly two fucking weeks, just them.

... "fucking" is the operative word here, one hopes ;)

As for your scenario - I'd so much love, love, love it! I don't NEED them making out on screen, I don't NEED them fucking their brains out on screen (but obviously I wouldn't mind it happening either), but I do need them to show us some tender gesture, some couple-ish interaction, or anything like that that shows us that there's been something happening off-screen that changed their relationship ultimately and profoundly. And I too would totally embrace and buy this scenario, loving it to bits and pieces...

Because quite honestly - we all do have our imagination, we don't necessarily need them to show us every single step in their relationship, because let's face it, it is more than likely that "their" version of them finally coming together will pale in comparison to the scenarios each and everyone of us has lurking around in our brains somewhere.

And I personally really don't want to be there when the shitstorm of "they should have done this and that" or "why aren't they shagging like rabbits by now" or "every child could have done this better, they had our expectations to meet and didn't at all" hits.
I for one will be deeply grateful for every touch, every glance, every tender gesture that implies "yes, there's more..."

IA, Amruniel. Don't need to see it, and quite frankly, I'm not sure what I would see on screen would live up to some great ff's I've read- some of Sammy's included- or what's in my mind, either. That being said, I have faith that, if it were written well, a love scene at some point- not necessarily as soon as they start a relationship, though- could be totally satisfying because of the acting chops of MW and CdP. But as long as we see something of their moving forward, I'm happy!

I'm definitely there with you - a well-written love-scene along the way would be wonderful (and taking all the beautiful moments they blessed us with recently, I'm fairly sure that such a scene would be simply picture-perfect), but I think the pressure of "getting the first kiss right" might be just too much to live up to. As you said - there are probably a thousand beautiful ff-first kisses/first times out there as well as our own phantasies that "getting it right" is nearly unmanagable.

And another point we shouldn't forget is, that NCIS is not a series about Tony and Ziva, and taking in account what we saw of other relationships along the way we really should be more than happy with anything more than a passing reference (I think we never saw Abby and Timmy together, allthough we were told they were together at some point), and also Gibbs's relationships were hardly ever more than fleeting glances that left us to fill in the blanks - except when those relationships were in any shape or form pertinent for the overall storyline or character development . So whatever they're planning for Tony and Ziva, I think we should be really grateful for every glance we will be given, as well as we should be deeply grateful for all those sweet moments they presented us with up until now.
