Oh. Oh. Ooooh!
That's the short version, and frankly, it is not just about the final scene, but almost everything about this episode. Because thank you, PTB, for finally giving me a GOOD episode after all the meh! ones and restoring my faith!
"Her talents never seize to amaze me." Palmer! You smug little bastard! *giggles* I really do have an awful lot of Palmer love going on after this episode. ("Are you quoting Jack Sparrow?" *giggles some more*)
Gibbs has so many great lines in this one, starting with "My house is stoic?" *loves*, going right through "Look. Don't touch." and finally, when asked what his beef with the CGIS gal is, his "I don't know you." YES YES YES! *fangirls stoic!Gibbs* (Not to mention the name exchange - "You can call me Abby." - "No. That's not gonna happen.")
Tony, when told that CGIS gal is attractive: "Oh, yeah. I hadn't even noticed." *squees her little heart out* Of course he hasn't, he's in love with someone else! D'uh! :D
And the final scene! OMG! Ziva's voice! The looks! The date that isn't one because it's at work! Oh! Oh! *fangasms* I saw a picspam and a transcript of this scene before going to work, but that did NOT prepare me for how it was played out. *fans herself*
her_lovelyheart? Yes. It did inspire. Fluffily. Mightily. *unleashes a big fat squee* :D
Ahem. *coughs* Okay, on a more coherent note - I think the similarities thing was played out much better than it was in "Doppelganger", actually. I was not too fond of the actress, though, maybe because her deepcalm!voice and her stance came across as a bit forced, and she did not really get the Gibbs moves right, but there were a lot of scenes I enjoyed nevertheless.
The case file was good, interesting, it was also mostly solid and not screaming "plot holes!" at the top of its lungs. Which is such a frickin' improvement over most of season seven so far, it boggles the mind.
The team felt a touch more together this time, the flow was better. I loved the tiny Ducky storyline and the fact that he isn't blindly seeking comfort but staying true to who he is. And the bowties are back! *fangirls*
And most of all, I LOVE the fact that Ziva was so very different in this ep than in the previous ones. Her hair was all curly and flowing freely again after so many episodes where she had it tamed and smoothed out. She looked relaxed, calm, and yes, she finally felt a bit like Ziva again. And I adored the fact that she and Tony have finally gotten over the awkwardness of "Reunion" and they can really give each other the snide locker room remarks without one of them flinching. They feel so much back to normal (just in love) that I will most likely watch this final scene about a gazillion times. No idea how I'll feel about this tomorrow, but right now, I think this could easily be my favorite squee!tiva moment (as opposed to the angst!tiva ones).
*is deliriously happy & wants more*
Edit: I do have one gripe after all - Tony and Gibbs BOTH overlooking the CGIS agents when they search the house? Meh. But that's so minor I can cope.
