Dear Kathy Harden,
I have tried and I can not find you. Some day, perhaps you'll reappear in my life and I'll be able to say this to your face:
I am sorry.
In the fourth grade, I turned my back on you as a friend in order to be accepted by the cool kids. For the next three years, I chose to make fun of you, torment you and outright ignore you.
Having experienced the same later in my life, I know now that being abused by strangers only hurts a fraction as much as being abused by your friends.
Wherever you are, I plead to you, to my God and to the universe to forgive me for the way that I treated you. It is one of the greatest regrets of my life.
I only hope that some how, some way, this message finds you.
Sincerely,
Sam Kent
Sicklerville, NJ
Friends, I know it's asking a lot, but could you help me spread this apology? Copy it in your journal, forward it as an e-mail to your friends and family. Maybe some day it will find her.
