my tuition kids never fail to put a smile on my face with their nonsense and childlike innocence (or perhaps, lack of)
there was an question in which 4 options were provided.

a) made from
b) made up
c) made off
d) made out

"made out" could mean to expect, or to have the belief.

"He's not what I made (him) out to be."
