Excerpt From Fic: "Maybe you should've stuck with Cho Chang," Ron said.
Harry laughed, picturing himself and Cho sharing more weepy snogs. And then he gave Ron a closed but wet kiss on the mouth.
He backed away, horrified by what he'd done, and to his best friend! "Sorry," he mumbled.
Ron shrugged. "You taste a bit salty but I've had worse."
Harry stared at him. "No, I mean about kissing you."
Ron shrugged again. "Your timing is weird, but Hermione told me to let you make the first move."
"Hermione told you-" Harry was starting to wonder if he'd drifted off and this was a dream.
"Yeah. She said, 'Harry's in a very vulnerable state right now. Don't jump him at the first opportunity. Give him time.'"
"You knew! The both of you knew!"
"How you felt about me? Shit, Harry, we're not blind."
What I thought: This is a 15 chapter trio-fic that is grounded in canon to the point that you could see it being a natural result of their long lasting friendship. It’s well written and has alternating points of sexy, funny and a little bit sad, which makes up most of life, really.
I do wish the author had spent more time developing the relationship between Harry and his daughter, but I suppose that really wasn’t the focus of the fic, and if you focus on everything you’re going to end up with a whole lot of nothing. The building of something between first Ron and Harry and then all three of them is sweet and funny and very realistic.
To me the ending was rather abrupt - the kind that has you making sure you really read all the chapters and there wasn’t just a missing link to the next part, but not in a cliff-hanger way. The author had simply told her story about a certain period of their lives together and once the story was told, the fic was over. I think there could have been a better resolution overall, but it was still a lovely read.
