Oh, this is just wonderful, bittersweet and full of very real-feeling feelings! I love that you've made both of them imperfect but that despite the imperfections and the obstacles they've both had to (and will still have to) overcome, they are still together and will stay together. That last casual-seeming thanks is anything but... but we know that Howard can hear in it all the things that Vince can't yet say in actual words.
Hugs are lovely. I love Boosh hugs. And you write them so very beautifully.
Also, I now have new headcanon as to where Howard got the idea for the trumpet sock...

You had me at the first sentence. I have a big soft spot for boys in tears, and the story got better and better as it went along. Had a feeling it might be personal - that's very hard to do, to put personal stuff into stories that other people are going to read, but it makes the story even more compelling and engaging. I guess that's why they say 'write about what you know'... Well done you.
