(no subject)
So after a while of letting my devotions slip i've decided that I need to get back into doing them! And already - within the span of only 2 days - God has already taught me SOO much!
For a while I've really struggled with who God wants me to be.... so I started to wonder WHO and WHAT a woman of God really is. I wanted to dig in deeper to find the qualities she has and how she responds to things. So I started my search.... Here's what i've found:
Esther
So back then it was pretty obvious that women were lower than men. Women were to submit to the men in the household and basically weren't "to speak unless spoken to." So King Xerxes was married to Queen Vashti and she dishonored him by disrespecting him in some way. Officials of the city automatically assumed that women would start to disobey their husbands and stop submiting by following the example the queen had set by disobeying the king. The king decided that Queen Vashti could no longer be in his presence and this was made into a law. King Xerxes now had to find someone "better" to take her place, hoping that this would make the women respect their husbands again. "Every man should be ruler over his own household."
Qualities of a Godly women that I found:
- Esther 2:2 "...Beautiful Young Virgins..." -> obviously the women that sought after were generally appealing in their outward appearance, but not only were they BEAUTIFUL they were VIRGINS! virgins = pure in that time perioud. It meant women that were pure in their physical nature...committing themselves to ONE man! cool huh?
- the king was immediately PLEASED with Esther
- she STOOD OUT from the crowd....she was noticeable by her character and who she was
- "SUBMITTED" to what was suggested of her by a man
- TRUTHFUL
- knew what was RIGHT AND WRONG in God's eyes
Ruth
These were the qualities that I found in Ruth:
- loves other that aren't always exactly like her
- LOVES -> "find rest in the home of another husband."
- FAITHFUL
- DETERMINED
- PROVIDES -> "Ruth 2:2 'And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.'"
- is NOTICED/ STANDS OUT
- Does not do what she wants, but what is RIGHT in God's eyes (Ruth 2:11-12 "Boaz replied, 'I've been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband - how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, The God os Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.")
- takes REFUGE in God
- RESPECTFUL
- REWARDED for her good deeds
- GENEROUS
- thinks of OTHERS, but also herself
- woman of NOBLE CHARACTER (Ruth 3:11)
So I've definately been learning alot about who the woman of God is and what qualities she has....that's my desire..i really want to be a strong and faithful Woman of God that people are drawn to.......
God make the me woman that you would have me be..... please Father continue to teach me...i want to learn....

and i know you hear my prayers
