"No matter how qualified or deserving you are,
you will never reach a better life until you can imagine it for yourself,
and allow yourself to have it"
Richard Bach.
::
I remember,
trying to swim in the sea in sentosa.
Training for the biathlon alone.
As I swum in the rocky waters:
the peripheral vision that surrounded my goggles
were mostly murky, semblances of brown.
My imagination went shotgun wild; thrashing.
I became afraid:
something might touch me,
something might drag me down,
or that I might touch the slimy bottom of the seabed.
It got my thoughts running, racing.
My chest tightens, breaths shorten and stutter.
I swum to shore and gave up water training.
That was fear.
That experience made me
now understand it on a different level.
While at this point
the reacquaintance of it is
intimate.
In contest-affirmation with fatigue.
But aloof.
