Man,
this is so messed up. I guess this happened a while ago, and the sociopath is just now getting sentenced. I dunno how I didn't hear about it seeing as how it is front page national news now, but this kid and his victim attended Klein Collins High School which was like 5 minutes from my house. My school, Klein Oak, split when it was built and siphoned like 1/2 my grade into Klein Collins. This incident is really messed up, particularly because it is such an eerily familiar scene. A party off 2920 (the main road near the neighborhood where it happened, like 2 minutes from my own) with a bunch of high school kids getting drunk, taking xanax and doing coke while their parents are out, clueless, or even home. We used to do the same thing in the neighborhoods right where this happened. The poor guy was in the hospital for 3 months, as I suppose anyone would be if they were sexually assaulted with the pole from a patio umbrella for 4-5 hours and then had bleach poured on them. That's fucked.
Maybe it's the claustrophobia of not seeing a way out- suburbia can be a crazy place. I feel like that more and more after being here in the city. There's just something desperate and listless and sad about people from places like that. Maybe i'll raise my kids in the country. Or in a biosphere?
