It cracks me up to see people bundled up like it's cold already. It's only just now October. This is the weather where you sit out on your porch in your light fall pajamas and a blanket, sipping a cup of really hot coffee and appreciating the sunrise, or reading a crisp newspaper/current novel, or just enjoy a great moment of life. These are days that I like best. It's nice and cool, fresh and airy, constantly moving air keeping me from falling into a pit of my own sweat.
During that ice storm in Jaunary, I was begging for warm days. I've been lucky this summer in not spending too much time outside in the sweltering heat. But this winter.... maybe we'll actually have a winter, not a sum-fall-ing with a random jaunt of ice and downed power grids. I look forward to that... even if I won't get to see it.
Damn. Just realized that Aaron and I will be spending the next couple years elsewhere. Away from these pretty almost-mountains. Away from holiday-driving distance with my immediate family. Away from just about everything I care to remember. :( *pout* Lemme tell you, moving to another state about two weeks before Thanksgiving constitutes as a bad start to the holidays in my book. We're getting there in time to decorate for no-one. That's pretty darn depressing. Gah.
Anyway!! So, I don't think I'll be keeping the New Year's Resolution I set for 2009. I have not finished my first book yet. Ice storm, twins (not mine), college graduation (Aaron's), wedding (mine and Aaron's), planning a cruise, getting orders from the USAF, planning a move, add in the vaguaries of everyday human existence, including a 8 hour workday, inconsistent schedule, and 1 small affectionate pug; that is the lamest excuse I can come up with to explain my lack of book writing. Good news is that I have a lot of research done on it, and will be ready to get back on track ASAP. Maybe when I get used to being an Air Force wife... in say... 2-3 months... 30 years..... eventually.....
I will have a book written before my first child, believe it!!!!
The problem is finding a publisher that will accept unagented queries... anyone know any?
