Exploring the Town Itself

In daylight, the town looked quite cheerful. At the centre of town, where the gazebo and gardens were located, a series of buildings formed a circle. Each shop was painted in a bright colour - usually pink, but often whites and light yellows found their way into the place as well. Their quaint appearance invited all those wandering the streets to come and explore their contents, even if the individual had no intent on buying anything.

The Town Library - The library was an older building, made of white limestone and designed in the neoclassical style - four large Dorian columns lined the entrance, and the windows feature lavish engravings along side them. The interior was equally impressive, featuring six stories of books - all sorts of books. Many bound in various colour leathers, others brand new paperbacks, all preciously preserved on the shelves. There was ample seating space here, full of plush red and green sofas and armchairs, arranged around tables and false fireplaces. The shelves themselves were a cheerful oak, and attempted to elude a homey atmosphere - as if this was a home library rather than a public one.

Little Pink Treats - Connected to the bakery, the ice cream shop invoked the halcyon days of the old soda shop - bedecked in shining brass and deep, dark cherry wood, the counter was carefully engraved, with matching stools. A series of booths and tables surrounded the rest of the shop, giving a more mature feel to the products it sold. And oh, what ice cream it sold. The flavours were dense and rich - dark chocolate ice cream was made with 70% cacao, the sorbets were 100% fruit, the whipped cream was made fresh daily - everything was absolutely perfect. Sundaes were, of course, the place’s speciality, but milkshakes and warm drinks were also available to the customer. All they had to do was ask.

Red Heart Bakery - The bakery, next door to the ice cream shop, tempted passers-by before they even walked inside simply by virtue of its aroma. It was an enticing blend of pastries and sweets, the promise of deliciously sweet confections. Inside, the place did not disappoint. Displayed on polished trays were elegant cakes, arrays of cookies, brownies, scones, cupcakes. Pies of all sorts were arranged prominently at different heights to enhance their aesthetic appeal. The counter's surface was polished to an impeccable shine, as were all of the tables in the place. Said tables were accompanied by comfortable chairs, set around the inside of the cozy shop to maximize space and comfort. The nigh-intoxicating aroma of baking confections permeated the air.

Pink Skies Real Estate - Tucked away in an unassuming corner of the collection of shops was a small, cheerful looking building with a soothing - but professional - sign proclaiming its name. Inside was a clean, tastefully-decorated front office, complete with chairs and reading material should one need to wait for an appointment at the desk.

Mother's Grocery: The general store, of course, was the most important of all of the shops. Its main feature was, of course, non-perishable food items for when the residents of the town wanted to cook for themselves. Dried pastas, boxes of rice, as well as microwaveable meals and canned goods stocked the shelves, invoking typical modern living. A small refrigerator section sat at the back of the store, housing ice cream, milk, water and soda. Other shelves held various useful things - pieces of hardware, basics, small items that might come in handy on a day to day basis. Thumbtacks. Lip balm. Tools. Toothbrushes. There were things that might not be found already in the houses, but which could still be potentially desired in a timely fashion. At the register was a myriad of candy as well, to satisfy every sweet tooth that had been ignored by the soda fountain and bakery.

Each shop, save Pink Skies Real Estate, was tended to by cheerful employees with button eyes and wide smiles.
