Rift mmorpg

Such a shame. Gameplay good, events great, mahoosive costume fail. My daughter wants to play it, I want to play it. I got some 'armour' t'other night. Now, this was supposed to be plate armour if only my arse wasn't hanging out of it. OK not my arse,my avatar's arse. But my mates, both blokes playing blokes were fully covered. I'm all for parity, ( Read more... )

Sucky.

Guild Wars 2 is out soon, not sure if they do the same there. Or you could try Fable 3 (yes not an MMORPG) which has just come out on the PC (very British and slightly silly a RPG) that has armour parity, hell you can even cross dress if you like.

Hope I wasn't teaching grandma to suck eggs there, I can never remember who plays games and who doesn't.

Oh and Skyrim (the next in the Bethesda games, people who did Morrowind) comes out in the autumn.

No not at all, grannie forgets a lot these days:) I love mmorpg's I like the randomness and tbf EQ2 is fine, Warhammer likewise as are CoH and Cov. I just like the gameplay of Rift.
It was just really rather embarrassing standing there looking like a lapdancer while my male companions looked, you know, like proper clad adventurers out to fight beasties. What is really annoying is that GC1 wants to play it and I want to encourage her love of fantasy but I don't want the ingraining of 'you are just a sum total of your parts' to infect her through this media. I always look to sci-fi and fantasy to support minorities, I think when it fails it really hurts, and I'm gonna be the baddie in my child's eyes (again!:)

Guild Wars is a bit different to other MMORPGS, it's designed to be more friendly to people who don't/can't team up with others all the time, plus it's a one off purchase game - no monthly fee. The new one is appranetly trying loads of experiments in breaking the play conventions of stuff like Warcrack and sounds interesting.

Fable is pretty even handed, it even has gay charaters and you can get married to a partner of the same sex too (I think it got an award from some LGBT organisation).
When I played Fable 3 I played with a female character it was a refreshing change to think ooooh I'm waering clunky armour and not a chainmail bikini.

There's been so many arguments on the forum about this that its not even funny (WARNING: do NOT go and look, you will get the rage) which is in part why Trion have implemented the wardrobe feature.

I'm a plate wearer, and nothing about my armour is skimpy. :)

Yay!...Wardrobe feature? Oh...I think ewsky mentioned summink...is it like you can wear what looks cool irrespective of what you are 'wearing'? That's something, if so. And yes I will avoid forums. I *almost* signed up for one this AM but refrained, it always makes me want to get Silent Bob and Jay on people.

I would however like to get the designer who came up with the pornoknight outfit to wear it, and I'll wear my armour and we'll do the medieval two-step, see what happens ;) Ahh such stuff are dreams made of...

Youm look great btw!:)

Ahh, I remember running around the newbie forest of EQ looking like a tiny blue prostitute. It always made dying extra embarassing. In fact, I have a vague recollection that I kept a newbie robe in the bank for a while to avoid this.

I think there is a bit of a problem with this and computer games which some games have fixed and a lot haven't. Unfortunately I discovered that online gaming turns me into a howling mentalist so I had to stop. Now I don't seem to have time to game at all. Ho hum.

Suspenders! Oh lordy thems was the (baaad) old days. I think I'm safe if I avoid forums and only play a liddle bit. I can't play a lot, I just fall asleep.
