We finally got a replacement box spring over the weekend, and the resulting sleep was glorious. I'd forgotten that when J and I moved in together 5 or so years ago we used my queen sized mattress, but his full sized box spring since we couldn't fit the queen box spring up the stairs. At the time it was a stop gap measure, and I had every intention of buying a split queen, then promptly forgot. Our bedroom was so small at the townhouse that you barely noticed the difference. It wasn't until I was changing the sheets and cursing our uncomfortable bed a few months ago that I remembered the box spring was the wrong size, and made it a priority to get a proper box spring. Last night when I went to bed, I didn't lay in bed for an hour before falling asleep, nor did I wake up every time J shifted around. I did wake up once in a panic to what sounded like someone breaking in, but J checked on the noise and reported back that Icarus was "assault climbing" the old box spring which we leaned against the wall in the guest room until trash day. This is a win all around, I get a good night's rest, and Kid gets a new toy.
