Cat update and worst week ever

The week really isn't that bad actually, just a bit trying. Tuesday was my adventure taking the cat to the vet. He was a very well behaved cat during the car ride to the vet, and sitting in the lounge waiting to be seen. He didn't even flinch when dogs started barking and causing a scene. But once in the exam room things went south. He kind of cuddled up to me and sat and looked cute, and then the vet reached in to take his vitals and he turned into a spitting hissing ball of pure fury resulting in me getting bitten in the juicy part of my hand. It was kind of impressive. The bite is a clean through and through bottom teeth through my palm top teeth top of my hand. Needless to say, they decided he'd need to be sedated in order to run any tests. Despite the bite, I was sure to hold him in my lap as the meds took affect as I didn't want him to feel scared and alone. Sitting and watching my little man go out was once of the worst feelings I've ever had.
Poor little guy was groggy as hell for the rest of the day, and really didn't come out of sedation very easily. After about an hour of waiting and hoping he'd wake up, he finally blinked a little and stood up on his own well enough for the vet to feel comfortable releasing him, but I sat at home and watched him throughout the evening, and followed him around the house when he finally woke up enough to drunkenly stumble to get food. After I finally passed out from exhaustion and antihistamines. J took over the night shift and stayed up playing with Kid to ensure he was fine (I do love my Boy).
Luckily all of the test results came back clear and for the next three days he's on a variety of meds to help with inflammation and regulate his digestion. The vet also recommended feeding him wet food on occasion to increase his water intake. We're still keeping an eye on him and his litter box just to make sure things look like their clearing up, otherwise we may need to take him back for x-rays. However, is overall disposition and behavior lead me to think he'll be just fine.
Yesterday resulted in my own doctor adventure as I had to get my hand looked out. Went to work in the morning and left mid afternoon after my hand really started throbbing. The doc noted that cat bites almost always become infected and prescribed a round of antibiotics for the next few days. Luckily I'd already had a tetanus shot a few months back, so I was clear on that front. At this point, my hand is pretty red and swollen, and I can't fully extend my index finger due to the swelling. I'm going to keep an eye on it the next few days to make sure it looks like its improving, but I'm hoping for the best.

kid icarus, health
