It makes me sad that in 2012 the First Lady of the U.S. has to defend herself from being an "angry black".

"I guess it's more interesting to imagine this conflicted situation here and a strong woman. But that's been an image that people have tried to paint of me since the day Barack announced [he would run for president] - that I'm some angry black woman," she said.

It resonates in the same vein as this video from last April

The irony of being pissed off at the "angry black" woman isn't lost on me, but JFC America, get over it. Why must there always be something wrong with self confident, intelligent, assertive women? Not wanting to (just) be a glorified clothes hangar (how many times are stories about Mrs. O focusing on wardrobe); baby mamma; mom; arm candy; etc., does not make a woman "angry" or "bitchy". Expecting to be an equal partner in a relationship and have a discussion like an intelligent person also doesn't mean she's meddling. How does this still exist as a stereotype?

You know what...never mind, I take it back. If you're a woman living in the world today and you AREN'T angry, you're doing it wrong.
