After watching several depressing movies on Netflix, J and I have kind of gotten into watching comedies. As someone who really appreciates the catty bitch, I had been interested in seeing the Joan Rivers documentary a few months ago while it was in town, and was pleasantly surprised to see it on Netflix. I know that now, in 2010, its so easy to dismiss her as she slowly turns into another cat lady obsessed with plastic surgery, and that's unfortunate, because there is a lot of substance there. It's heartbreaking to realize that even now, at 75, with all she's accomplished, and the doors that she's opened, she's still searching for respect and validation.
She may not always be my cup of tea, but she is an extraordinary woman, and I respect her work.
