I thought
this article was kind of awesome and inspiring. While I don't think I'd ever be able to walk away, live in their austere existence, I respect them for what their doing.
I admit, sometimes, I think we're too pampered, too at ease, and have lost touch of what's important. I mean really, this past weekend is the perfect example, instead of being Thankful we're not on the streets, and we have food and running water and such, the news inundated us with Black Friday ads and sales (and that's without us even watching TV), instead of thinking about sharing what we have with others we're taught to spend, spend, and spend some more. When I first started working, every time I made an expensive purchase (that looking back I can see I couldn't afford) I told myself I was helping the economy without really even thinking about helping others. Slowly, I've tried to change that, and stories like this continue to inspire me to be a better me.
