Um...

On the one hand rent a wife seems like it could be a great opportunity for women (or type A personalities like mine) to make some side cash doing what you do. On the other...WTF! Couldn't we call this something else?! I mean, if I'm planning your party in lieu of hiring a party planner or event coordinator, then it's a lot more than a normal partner (I can't even bring myself to say wife) should be expected to do.
I love the slogan, "Because every working person needs a wife". Not even delving into the inherent privilege and class issues behind that statement the implication that what "wives" do isn't work is galling. I guess I should be relived they at least used the gender nominative "person" instead of making this a male need, but still to typify wife in such a narrow manner is ridiculous. Actually, the more I think about it the more I realize this isn't a subject fit for 4 a.m. insomnia, and its Just Fucking Wrong and I'll leave it at that.

Actually...this list of things you can rent is interesting in how many of the items are typified as a female substitute from 'fembots' to sex dolls. Personally, I feel like the dichotomy is very skewed on this one, and I can almost envision some iteration of 'A Handmaids Tale' as a derivative (why marry the uterus when you can rent on for free!). I'm not fully understanding how many of these items really help the environment, or what I should take from the list, will the environment be better if we objectify women/put them in their place? I don't want to over simplify things, but I'm also not entirely sure how I should read this as a whole.
