I cooked a pot roast today. and homemade mashed potatoes. and rolls (ok, they were storebought).
sweet Jesus, it was yummy. particularly the mashed potatoes... thank you P-Dub.
I took pictures to document the occasion, but somewhere between searing the meat and deglazing the pan, I set the fire alarm off.
So... you don't get much past the searing of the meat. Sorry.
I've decided to post them.
The cast of characters. Innocent enough,eh?
Mmmm.. Carrots. they are good for you. P-Dub said not to peel them. So I didn't. Me and P-dub walk on the wild side.
Onions.. they are my food equal.. we have many layers and we'll make you cry.
Onions and Carrots.. lion and the lamb. You wouldn't expect those two to get together, but they did. Kinda like Edward and Bella.
Here they are after a vacation to my skillet... see how tanned they are?
This, friends, is where the journey ends. because shortly after this photo was taken, the meat jumped into the crock pot to the right (you can see the cord). And I gently poured beef stock into the pan. And it promptly exploded. And in my shock, I squeezed the package of beef broth ALLLLLL over the kitchen. If the fire alarm hadn't been going off, I'da take a picture of the whole bloody scene.
Never fear though. Once I turned everything off, including the alarm. I called my landlords to let them know that the place isn't burning down, just in case the security people call them. And I Assured them that everything was fine and I wasn't going to destroy their condo before May.
Then, I took a deep breath. And deglazed the pan.
And voila.. a pot roast was born.
I wish you coulda seen the potatoes... oh the potatoes.... ohhhh.. so good.
Ok, enough.
I'm weird, you like it.
