Super Tuesday drove me completely insane.
I have spent the last five or six hours constantly refreshing CNN and BarackObama.com and talking about absolutely nothing else.
During the 2004 election I thought about writing a mass letter to send to my family to ask them to vote Democrat. I didn't in the end because it felt preachy and there is the ever-present taboo about talking about politics. Of course, then when the election was said and done and I was completely devastated, I couldn't believe that I had taken every opportunity possible to engage the people I loved in honest dialogue about beliefs that were so important to me. So tonight I stayed up late listening to the "Yes, We Can" song and I wrote my immediate family a letter telling them why I was voting for Barack Obama in the primaries and why I hoped they would too.
I think that a week before March 4th, which is when Ohio has it's primaries, I will modify the e-mail a bit and send it out to the rest of my family.
It's time to start acting like it when something is really important. And this is really important to me.
