The show last night was amazing and lovely and sweaty and tiring and wonderful. It was so good to reconnect with friends and family from many parts of my life, to make new friends and memories, and to see the beautiful thing Jason created with his friends and family. It was equal parts utter chaos and breathtaking sweetness, and I was so pleased to be a part of it. I am also now the proud owner of a giant cardboard Mother Teresa head with moving mouth.
After the show we walked over to Freeway Park to schmooze, laugh, hug, and eat a giant cake shaped like a tomato. I spent most of the past two days creating the Tomato Cake, which consisted of more than 20 tomato soup-carrot cakes and a huge amount of cream cheese icing. Jason's mom contributed a few of the cakes, and
qazwsxmko and
pruneduchess assisted with assembly and decorating. I was the self-proclaimed
Queen of Cake. I'm hoping to post more pictures soon, but I didn't take any myself. Luckily Amanda Palmer took a couple of the Tomato Cake:
in progress (with
qazwsxmko) and
completed (with everyone that was hanging around right then).
What can I say - I love my life. It is so whimsical at times.
If you missed out on the fun, or even if you didn't,
Camp Tomato 2009 is still coming up on Sunday afternoon. It will be utterly ridiculous and fun.
