David Tennant still owns you. Seriously.
I like Martha. But...
She falls for the Doctor? Again, Russell? And you're still bashing us over the head with how much the Doctor is missing Rose. Yes, I know, this is the twenty-first Century and even the Doctor is allowed to have feelings (Poor old Peter Davison, always did feel sorry for the rules and regs they tied him up in...) but he is NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTYMUMBLE YEARS OLD! He's done this a time or two, we expect it to hurt him, and it's good that you can finally show how it effects him in full, but... God in Heaven!
*deep breath*
Aside from that, I thought this was a cracker little romp... the plot was secondary, of course - this was the Jones show, and it worked really well. I like Martha, I like how smart and ballsy she is, I like how she doesn't take crap (apart from from her family, which is interesting...) I like how she's NOT ROSE! Please, Russell, for the love of all the good things in the world - puppies, apple turnover, sunsets, sunrises, Take That, Dec's smile, JAMES MAY'S HAIR! - don't do it, Russell, don't do to her what you did to Rose. Don't make me want to bash in her brain with a skillet. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry, Russell.
Right, now for the fangirl part. Two little things that made my night:
When Martha was doing the 'omigod, two hearts?' routine, that wink the Doctor shot her? I wanted to molest David Tennant so much right then. *nods*
And at the end, when he mouthed 'it's bigger on the inside' - how much was I not surprised that that was his idea? Lovely little fanboy.
Right, keep your fingers crossed for the rest of the series... how much am I squeeing over Dean Lennox Kelly playing Shakespeare? Someone with presence and charisma playing the Bard! I may have to not kill Russell for a bit longer just for that :D
