Life Updates / Hosting Updates

Skipping the subject for now because I don't have one. Meh.

Updates on my life.  Let's see.  I've been busy.  Busy, busy, busy bunsy.  Working on my sites.

DreamHost is insisting that I now pay $70/mo or more to keep PS.net and all my other fansites online since they don't want to move me back to shared from the private server even though OtakuFuel is no longer hosted on their server.

Can't share with you how many times I've cried over this the last week.  I've been hosted with them for almost 2 years and been very happy and not had any problems until I threw OtakuFuel into the mix and it started using up crazy resources with it's 25k queries per page load insanity. *falls over*

*sighs*  So even if I was stinking rich, I take issue with paying that much money to host fansites, for reals.  I don't want to ask people to donate money to pay for the hosting and I don't want to plaster the sites with ads either.  I *like* and I *want* to continue to host these sites ad free, donation for hosting free.

I am planning on asking for donations for the fanfic prizes, but that's because I need more booty money to keep hosting contests with real prizes.  Especially since Sailor Moon collectibles are becoming harder to find for a decent price.  But that's DIFFERENT than hosting donations.  I'm not knocking it for those that take donations, it doesn't bother me in the slightest, it's just not how I want to operate.  To be honest, I'm the most afraid that I would get more money than I need since I get so much traffic and then I would have to figure out something to do with the extra money and that just complicates things further.  So yeah...*sighs*  Round and round I go.  I swear, I can't even reach resolution when I'm typing it all up.

So anyways, I'm in the process right now of moving everything off DreamHost and onto HostGator.  I'm also now getting some assistance from a new friend, (who just so happens to know eons more about hosting than I do) but someone I know I can trust completely.  I'm so grateful that I'm being saved from this big mess, it's not even funny.   I'm hoping that HostGator will work out, I really want them too, but we'll see.  If I had things my way I would have stayed on DreamHost shared forever, I really liked them, but they are basically forcing my unwilling hand by saying I have to stay on a private server pretty much no matter what.  *cries*  I should post the mean nasty message I got from the tech support manager about how I HAVE TO PAY and I SHOULD PAY and blah, blah, blah mean nastiness.

I'm updating all the new products onto OtakuFuel since the move is finally completed, yay.  Some of the new stuff is really cute.  I especially liked this My Hime messenger bag - which I just finished watching, by the way.  (It was pretty good.  It was too similar to a lot of other anime I've seen over the years to go WOW so COOL! And I was disappointed in the ending, but overall it was good.)  I wish I had the money to buy it for myself right now, but we're so broke at the moment. :(  There is a new Haruhi Suzumiya wallscroll that I really like too.  Ah well, time and money. ^_^  I'm only caught up to October 1st though, so there's a good two weeks of new stuff for me to add.  I'll probably find something else I really like.  LOL.  I'm too much of a fan!

Well, that's all for now I suppose.  I'm sure I'll be on to update more later.  I have a lot more stuff to talk about, but I need to spread things out a bit to keep you know - the semblance of sanity.
